RCMC Welcomes the delegations from the Embassy of Japan to Bangladesh

Cox’s Bazar, 10 December 2024: On December 10, 2024, the delegations from the Embassy of Japan to Bangladesh visited the Rohingya Cultural Memory Centre in Cox's Bazar, Bangladesh. During the visit, he engaged with the Rohingya community and explored their rich history and heritage through music, arts, and culture.

The Rohingya artisans at the RCMC have curated a collection of over 1,500 cultural artifacts and regularly organize cultural activities. These initiatives play a vital role in preserving and promoting Rohingya cultural heritage while fostering mental health and psychosocial well-being within the community.

The RCMC is a unique community-based Mental Health and Psychosocial Support Services (MHPSS) project of the International Organization for Migration (IOM), aimed at preserving Rohingya cultural heritage through storytelling, heritage skills transfer, and art. This centre is based in the world’s largest refugee camp in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh, and has been in operation since 2022.
