Description
The Rohingya community enjoy eating a lot of fish. In Myanmar, the men would catch fish from ponds and rivers and bring them home for the women to cook with traditional herbs and spices. At the camp, they still eat fish but since it is not freshly caught like it was in Myanmar the taste is different. This project helped the women recall the fish they used to eat in Myanmar. Ajida embroidered suengya maas (sungayan fish). This fish can be found in both Myanmar and Bangladesh. However, Ajida thinks the fish tastes better in Myanmar since it was caught directly from the pond. She became sad while drawing this fish because it reminded her of home.
