Description
This project was made during the COVID lockdown. Since the art facilitator could not go to the camp and supervise the Rohingya women, they were asked to document what they saw inside the house. So the women decided to document insects. Rohingya women have superstitious beliefs regarding some insects, such as they believe cockroaches bring wealth to the house they occupy so they do not kill them. Jannat Ara painted honey bees. She likes this insect because honey can be collected from its nest. There was a beehive beside her house in Myanmar but there are no beehives at the camp. Rohingyas rely on honey to cure different diseases. When they suffer from a cold they drink honey and when they have pimples they also apply honey on the infected spot.
