Goru banda de de lath is a tool used by Rohingya farmers for castrating livestock. Castrated bulls, or oxen, are gentler and thus easier for farmers to control. Cattle play a key role in Rohingya agricultural practices. Pairs of oxen or cows are used to plough fields, move the doloin or rice-threshing machine, and perform other tasks.
