Description
The art facilitator noticed that sometimes women don❜t have enough food but they still wear makeup. The reason behind putting on makeup is that it helps to ignore the pangs of hunger. While some women put makeup on special occasions such as Eid or weddings, others use makeup such as lipstick and kajol (eyeliner) to feel beautiful every day. Round circles painted on faces with saánaká (thanaka) are a common sight among Rohingya women. Moriom likes to put on makeup because it makes her feel pretty. She always used to put on a lot of makeup, still does and will continue doing so until she has a baby. She wears lipstick but likes saánaká (thanaka) the most and used it more back in Myanmar.
