Description

Foin is an earthenware steamer used to make different kinds of traditional Rohingya rice cakes called fira and bini baat or sticky rice. Foin are round and pot-bellied, with a narrow neck and lip while the bottom is perforated with holes.

The foin is set over a pot of boiling water with the food placed either inside the vessel or on the neck. The cook will line the bottom of the foin with small pieces of bamboo to prevent any food from falling into the boiling water.
