Description
A falki is a palanquin, or a covered box for transporting people, carried on the shoulders of four, six or eight human bearers. Traditionally, a Rohingya bride and groom would be carried in a falki on the day of their wedding. In the times before mechanical vehicles, elites would be transported in a falki. This wooden model of a falki with elaborate carved designs was crafted from wood by Rohingya master carpenter Mohammed Noor.
