Description

The sketch details each step of making Rohingya pottery. All the associated tools are portrayed along with the process. It is interesting to note that the roles can be gender-divided, for example, it is the male potter who operates the pottery wheel in traditional Rohingya pottery.

Step 1: Make the soil softer and softer, then mix it with the required amount of water.
Step 2: Make it into a cylinder-like shape to use it in the wheel.
Step 3: Mould the bottom portion into a thick round shape.
Step 4: By using the cylinder-like part, prepare the upper neck for the gora and fathela (clay pots).
Step 5: By using the aach the upper neck part is transformed into gai with the help of saitta doola.
Step 6:By using the pirana and thick chora and aach they prepare the lower round bowl.
Step 7:By using the aach and pirana the final item gora is prepared. The process is similar for fathela as well.

*Aach, pirana, chora, and saitta doola are pottery-making tools shown in the sketch.
