Description

Tushor sula is an earthen stove with a metal plate sloped inside and is used with paddy husk or bran. Since firewood is expensive not everyone in the countryside can afford it, so the tushor sula is used more in rural areas. It is less expensive than firewood and people who use this stove, collect paddy husk, especially before the rainy season begins. These stoves are not available for sale at markets but are instead made quite easily at home. Rohingya women can make it by mixing mud with water and moulding them into different shapes and sizes. The bran is placed at the mouth of the stove. Tushor sula is safer than electric or gas stoves and takes less time to cook food. Some people say that cooking with it brings out the flavour of the food more. It is also used in case of emergencies when there is an electricity shortage in urban areas. Tushor sula is considered a traditional Rohingya stove.
