Gool mez is a round table used for studying or dining, found in Rohingya households of Arakan. It is also known as a hana hade mez (dining table). Gool mez is also used by vendors to sell Mohinga soup or snacks, by the roadside or at markets. In the Cox’s Bazar camps, most Rohingya people eat and study on the floor, as there is no room for tables in the small shelters. This scale model of a gool mez is constructed from cane and reinforced with plastic tarp.
