Description

Kissu pujjir baaf maa asey (Some children have parents) is a Bilak song, performed in the Rohingya camps for the RCMC by Rohingya musician Muhammed Yousuf.

When Rohingya people encounter a tragic incident, or go through an intolerable experience, they express their grief through Bilak songs. Experiences like these include giving farewell to a family member when they go abroad, arresting of a close one by government forces, daughter getting married off to someone living far away, stealing of valuables by robbers or thieves, wife getting oppressed by her husband, someone being lost for a long while, and mourning someone’s death. It is natural that Rohingya people often cry while singing Bilak. The songs can be sung individually or in a group. When it gets hard to suppress emotions, many Rohingya people resort to singing out Bilak songs.
