Barang is a small, four-sided basket made of split bamboo and plastic string or rope. Barang is multipurpose: it can be used to carry vegetables from the field, or to carry rice paddy. Barang can be carried on the head, on the hip, or in the hands. As barang is an agricultural tool mainly used by Rohingya farmers, they are not commonly seen in the urban areas. They are usually made before the harvesting period. Barang is also known as tombainr.
