Description
The art facilitator noticed that sometimes women don❜t have enough food but they still wear makeup. The reason behind putting on makeup is that it helps to ignore the pangs of hunger. While some women put makeup on special occasions such as Eid or weddings, others use makeup such as lipstick and kajol (eyeliner) to feel beautiful every day. Round circles painted on faces with saánaká (thanaka) are a common sight among Rohingya women. Shobika always loved doing her makeup that made her feel beautiful. She uses kajol (eyeliner), saánaká (thanaka), and lipstick. She used them in Myanmar and likes saánaká the most. Shobika feels pretty when she puts saánaká on her face.
