Description

Kesa ilish mas salon is Hilsa fish curry. Fishing is a big part of the culture in Arakan. Fishermen, in both large and small vessels, go out into the ocean to secure their daily catch among which marine ilish mas (Hilsa fish) is considered one of the most valuable. When the fishermen return from the sea, they head to the nearest market to try and sell their precious catch of ilish mas (Hilsa fish) but it is relatively expensive and so fewer people can afford it. The people who do manage to buy it though, enjoy cooking it in a variety of ways. There are over 50 ways to cook ilish mas (Hilsa fish), and this curry calls for tomatoes, ginger and onion.
