Description

Sindhi is a traditional dessert that the Rohingya cook on special occasions. It is sometimes served to people who join prayers on the occasion of the death of a family member and also served before starting a new business. Sindhi is popular among fishermen who cook it before starting a new fishing season, or to celebrate a large catch of fish. Sindhi is similar to Halwa, except more water is used and the dessert has a soupier consistency. Unlike semai (vermicelli), which is usually made with castor sugar, sindhi is made with palm sugar and has a nuttier taste.
