Description

Aam pata loler chorer (The leaves of the mango tree rustle) is a Hoñla song, performed in the Rohingya camps for the RCMC by Rohingya musician Muhammad Salam.

Hoñla songs are perhaps the most popular genre of music among the Rohingya at present, alongside Taranas. These songs are associated with weddings and are generally only sung by women, who perform them in the houses of the brides-to-be and grooms-to-be. This practice can begin up to as long as a month before the wedding if not at least a few days and will be sung continuously until the wedding day. Hoñla songs have an erotic element and are meant to arouse.
