Description

Ajmerer naame pagol (Crazy for Ajmer) is a Murshidi song, performed in the Rohingya camps for the RCMC by Rohingya musician Ali Akbor.

These are primarily devotional folk songs in the Sufi register. A Murshid is a person who shows the way, like a guide, a guru or a teacher. Often referred to as a source of light in the darkness. In an Islamic reference they are sometimes known as Pirs or a Sheikhs. Murshidi songs are songs that expound the qualities of the Murshid and celebrate their teachings. These are often expressed as a remembrance of or a calling out to the teacher.
