Mez is a table used for studying or dining, in Rohingya households of Arakan. It is also known as a hana hade mez (dining table). Mez is also used by vendors to sell Mohinga soup or snacks, by the roadside or at markets. Usually made of wood, this model is made of cane and reinforced with plastic tarp. In the Cox’s Bazar camps, most Rohingya people eat and study on the floor, as there is no room for tables in the small shelters. This scale model of a mez is constructed from cane.
