Description
Schoolar hollai is the bag used by students to carry their schoolbooks and supplies. Every child or student needs a schoolar hollai of their own. They can be purchased, hand-sewn, or made from recycled materials, and come in a variety of sizes and designs. The schoolar hollai pictured was made out of recycled plastic coffee sachets by 18-year-old Sofida Begum for her younger brother as her family, who now live in a refugee camp in Cox❜s Bazar, could not afford to purchase one. To make the bag, she collected used plastic sachets from a tea stall near her shelter and applied a crafting technique usually used to make flat objects such at fadi (mats). Sofida says she made the bag because it is important for her brother❜s education, and that it symbolizes her love and care.
