Description

Kaba bula lo Sanwaria mohre (Dear Lord, let me hear the call of Kaba) is a Naqshbandi song, performed in the Rohingya camps for the RCMC by Rohingya musician Liakat Ali.

Naqshbandi songs are basically zikir (remembrance of God) done by a Sufi sect that goes by the same name deriving from its founder Baha-ud-Din Naqshband Bukhari. The Sufi masters of this sect have direct lineage to Abu Bakr and Ali Ibn Abu Talib. Its spread in South Asia, including Arakan and surrounding areas, is credited to Khwaja Moinuddin Hasan Chishti and Hazrat Mujaddid Alf Sani, two revered schOlars and mystics. The 11 Naqshbandi principles that are used as guidelines for spiritual exercises are scripted in circular designs. These designs are meditated upon, also worn around neck and hands as amulets. Sometimes they are also hung on the walls. Rohingya people in their Naqshbandi songs or meditations usually do not use musical instruments.
