Full name
Fatema Begum
Biographical note
Fatema is an embroidery artisan who learnt the art of fultola (traditional Rohingya stitching) at a UNHCR office in Arakan. Soon she was making hand fans, headscarves, dresses and selling them, giving her earnings to her parents. At the camp, Fatema could not continue with fultola because of the lack of materials but once she heard of the RCMC embroidery group from other women, she too joined them. Her favourite project was “House in Myanmar” and “My Favorite Dress”, because she could document memories of precious items left behind.
