Horong is a strapless wooden sandal used for foot protection. The most simple horong consists of a wooden sole with a knob inserted between the wearer❜s first and second toes. Rohingya horong are similar to wooden slides historically worn by cultures across South and Southeast Asia. The word horong is onomatopoeic; it derives from the sound made by the wooden slide as it slaps on the ground. In the modern day, horong have mostly been replaced by more comfortable mass-market sandal and shoe options.
