Esoine is a water-carrying basket woven from split bamboo. In Arakan, Rohingya farmers use esoine for a variety of purposes: to manually irrigate rice paddies or vegetable fields, scoop dirt from ponds or lakes, or catch fish in shallow waters during the dry season. To make an esoine, a triangular basket is fastened to an A-shaped bamboo frame with rope. The bar of the A forms the handle. The backside of the esoine is secured with a piece of wood.
