watchtower

A faara ghor is a high watchtower, usually built from bamboo, used to look out for security threats. Faara ghors like this can be found on Rohingya farms near forestland to keep an eye out for marauding elephants or pigs. In earlier times when there was little rule of law, every Rohingya village would have a faara ghor for protection. Today, similar faara ghors are used by the Myanmar security forces along border areas.
