This is a portrait of Kurshida, a Rohingya embroidery artisan for the RCMC. It was painted by Farzana Ahmed Urmi, a Bangladeshi artist-in-residence for the RCMC.

Kurshida, a tailor by profession, trains a group of Rohingya embroidery artisans at RCMC. Her mother inspired her to take sewing lessons when she was in her teenage. A role model for many young Rohingya girls in the camp, her journey of being an empowered Rohingya woman started ever since.
