Shomsul Alam

Shomsul Alam went by the name of Shomsu Mistri around Rohingya neighbourhoods- for he was a legendary carpenter often commissioned by people outside of Myanmar. As a helper for a carpenter at the age of ten, he started to learn the craft, and became a veteran practitioner with more than 50 years of experience now. RCMC proudly exhibits boats by Shomsu Mistri, mistri meaning carpenter in Rohingya language, but also a respectful address for the wood magicians, too!
