This is a portrait of Showmima, a Rohingya embroidery artisan for the RCMC. It was painted by Farzana Ahmed Urmi, a Bangladeshi artist-in-residence for the RCMC.

Showmima taught herself the art of fultola (embroidery) after observing a woman in her neighbourhood. In Arakan, Showmima shifted her focus to embroidering flowers and vines on pillow covers and headscarves, when her parents did not allow her to study further. At the camp she busies herself with working for the RCMC embroidery group, where she learnt to draw faces, different sceneries, trees and fruits.
